BOOK BLURB
Following her grandmother’s death, Voya has stepped into the role of Matriarch despite the doubts of her family and community. As she struggles to gain respect, a horrifying vision of the future leaves her once again tasked with saving her family.
REVIEW
I love that this sequel revolved more around Voya’s self-discovery rather than romance.
While Luc still plays a role in the story, Voya’s struggle to find her footing as the new matriarch is the primary focus.
She begins to question the stark divide between “pure” and “impure” magic, and how differently her community treats her following her family’s designation as impure.
Once again, Voya has a great character arc and I loved seeing her evolve in her role as Matriarch.
Voya also must confront the consequences of her choices in the previous book, and repair broken relationships with Luc and her family.
Overall, this book felt even stronger than the first one and was a great ending to this duology.
