The chaos of last year has left TJ and the Orisha Shango on the hook for the death of Thor, despite the fact that TJ has never met the Norse god. In punishment, a council of gods intends to drain the world of Shango’s essence, leaving his divine children without access to Ashe. TJ must recruit both old and new allies to break Shango out of his cosmic prison, but pulling off this heist might have some unintended consequences.
REVIEW
I loved the whole heist premise and the introduction of Greek gods and other deities into the storyline! I highly recommend reading “An Axe for a Hammer” prior to diving into The Hero’s Equinox, as the prequel novella provides additional context that will enrich your reading experience.
This story starts strong, laying out everything that’s at stake and TJ’s mission, and keeps getting better with every page. I loved how the heist team introduces new allies and brings back characters from the previous novels, creating tension as they try to work together. The inclusion of Asgardian gods and other deities further fleshed out the magical world beyond the Diviner community.
We get to see even more of Manny and Ayo, and I love how these characters continue to grow and change throughout the story, plus the romance subplot is adorable. TJ’s unique abilities, while necessary for the success of the mission, also continue to challenge him as he attends Ifa Academy.
