REVIEW
This conclusion to the Scorched Throne duology was satisfying and emotional, with political intrigue and high stakes that kept me invested throughout the story.
While the first book was entirely from Sylvia’s narrative, this sequel expanded the story with additional points of view. This change provides valuable insight into other characters, most notably Arin, and further builds out this fantasy world from different perspectives and locations. The multi-POV narrative successfully shifts between overlapping experiences without feeling repetitive.
Sylvia’s character arc in particular was fantastic, but I also grew to understand and appreciate the other characters more in this sequel. The romance, which I was hesitant about in the previous book, finally won me over. I enjoyed the plot much more than the first book and I loved the ending; it was perfect!
My only wish is that there had been a recap, since it’s been a while since I read the last book and this just dove into the present without much reference to the events of the previous book.
