REVIEW
Seafaring, pirates, magic, demons; there is so much to love about this book. Though very different from The Daevabad Trilogy in structure and tone, this book was an equally excellent fantasy adventure. It’s written in first person, primarily from Amina’s point of view with some hilarious asides to a second narrator named Jamal. Amina, an older woman and a mother, is a total badass and likeable protagonist. Amina’s pirate crew is awesome; it’s great having a cast of older characters. I loved that the story was centered around women and included a transgender character. As far as the audiobook, the narrators are fantastic.
